Wedding Banquet @ Pan Pacific Singapore

Red 'Bomb'

On this joyous occasion, our parents
Mr & Mrs William Ong and Mr & Mrs David Yeo
together with us
Willy & Lynn
warmly invite
(Your name)
to our wedding banquet on
Sunday, 30th January 2011
at Pan Pacific Singapore
Pacific Ballroom (Level 1)
7 Raffles Boulevard, Marina Square, Singapore 039595

Cocktail commences at 7.00 pm
Dinner will be served at 7.30 pm

Outfit for the night was a mix-and-match of new and old belongings of mine. Since Chinese New Year  is just days away, I actually treat the banquet as a form of pre-CNY showcase. (Didn’t buy an entire new outfit)

Heels are still recovering from Tuesday’s painful experience when I wore covered heels for my presentation. So…

3 inches taller~ Fresher air at a new level. With no feeling of pain.

New Beige Colour Elastic Wedge with Studs from Bata, $29.00
Seated in a cab. Waiting for the doorman to open the door for me. Looking at the hotel's logo. The feeling is just too shiok!

A look at the grounds:

Greeted by a vase of nicely decorated 银柳
The event, the main leads, the location, the duration... At a glance. Not forgetting some advertisements too.
Lovin' the colour tones of the light
Projector screens imaging the slideshow of wedding album photos and videos at different intervals
The Stage. Featherlike Stand were placed on 2 tables, reserved for the family members of the couple
Menu showing the 8 dishes to-be-served throughout the night

Willy, with Lynn by his side, giving a speech at the podium

The speech involve Willy thanking people who have assisted him in the preparation of the wedding, elders who have provided advice and the group of bridesmaid and brides-man. Before you classify this as the usual speech you hear at weddings, I have to say that Willy is one filial guy. His father passed away last month, as mentioned in my post, 红白对冲. Willy shared with the guests as to what the entire family has went through. With them discussing questions such as, should the wedding go on as planned or postpone it (most likely 3 years later, according to Chinese traditions). But after much contemplation, he felt that the plan shall proceed since this wedding was what everybody had been anticipating for a long time.

The feast to celebrate the occasion:

1. Combination of Deluxe Appetizers (Sucking Pig, Prawn Salad, Pacific Clams "Thai Style", Sliced Smoke Duck & Deep-fried Fu-Pei Prawn Roll)
2. Braised Shark's Fin Soup with Crab Meat & Bamboo Pith
3. Roasted Chicken with Shallots & Spicy Garlic Vinaigrette
4. Steamed Fillet of Sea Perch with Minced Garlic in Superior Soya Sauce
5. Poached 'Live' Prawns with Chinese Wine
6. Braised Baby Abalone & Fragrant Mushroom with Oyster Sauce on Seasonal Greens. Blurry eyes, where's my Baby Abalone?
Gem uncovered! Baby Abalone, there's no way you can escape from my mouth!
Filled to the brim
7. Fried Rice with Preserved Pork, Conpoy & Diced Mushroom wrapped in Lotus Leaf
8. Chilled Cream of Mango Sago with Pomelo

The waiter actually distributed the food into individual servings and that’s the reason why some of the pictures above did not turn out to look as appetizing. Apologies!

Here's a picture of the waiter, Kwang Huat, who served Table No. 22

Waiters at PPS will pass one feedback card to each table and request the guests to complete it for them. Waiter Kwang Huat was alright but my uncles were like, “Cannot be very good one lah!” Only if the waiter passed the card to me instead of Cousin CH. I would have written something more appropriate.

Behind the scenes:

Besides Chinese New Year, wedding banquet is an opportunity for you to mingle with relatives you rarely meet.

First time seeing domestic helpers dressed in uniforms at wedding banquet.

When there’s a beginning, there will be an end.

Long queue and wait at the Taxi Stand but not applicable to those who dial for cabs.

Leaving the food waste behind and bringing a piece of the memory home.

Souvenirs provided by PPS
